Hi I'm Nicky, welcome back to our kitchen where we show you how to make delicious
0:24
recipes. Swedish meatballs are an iconic dish
0:29
known the world over and this is my version.
0:32
We're going to start by making the meatballs in my bowl here I've got
0:36
grams which is a little over a pound of
0:39
mince and grams which is a little over half a pound of mince.
0:44
To that we're going to add a small finely ,
0:48
a minced clove of garlic, four tablespoons of crumbs,
0:54
one medium egg, five tablespoons of milk,
1:01
half a teaspoon of salt and quarter of a teaspoon each
1:04
of black pepper, white pepper and .
1:08
Mix it all together with your hands until combined.
1:17
This mixture should make about meatballs.
1:21
So you want to take a piece of the mixture about the size of a golf ball
1:25
and it slightly with your hands and then roll it together
1:29
into a meatball shape and then place it on a tray.
1:34
Continue making the meatballs until you've used up all the mixture.
1:44
Once we've made all the meatballs we're going to , you might need to
1:47
do this in depending on the size of your pan.
1:50
So we're going to start by adding a tablespoon of to a large
1:54
frying pan.
1:57
Add half of the meatballs to the pan and fry turning occasionally
2:01
until browned all over.
2:18
Transfer the meatballs to a tray whilst we make the second batch.
2:54
Now the meatballs have all been fried off we're going to place them in a low
2:57
oven about C or 300 F just to finish off
3:01
the cooking process, so it'll just be about five or six minutes
3:04
whilst we're making the sauce.
3:06
Now we're going to make that signature Swedish
3:08
meatball sauce. on the pan
3:11
to medium and I've got three tablespoons of
3:14
here that i'm going to add to the pan that we've fried the
3:17
meatballs in.
3:21
Once that butter's melted add in 3 tablespoons of plain all-purpose
3:26
and whisk it into the butter to form .
3:31
Add in or three-quarters of a cup of beef stock and stir it together with
3:36
the whisk until it's fully combined with the
3:38
butter-flour mixture and no lumps remain.
3:44
Now stir in 120ml or of vegetable .
3:54
Next in goes 120ml or half a cup of double or ,
4:01
two teaspoons of , a teaspoon of ,
4:08
a teaspoon of dijon mustard and quarter a teaspoon of salt. Stir all
4:16
that together to combine and bring it .
4:25
Now add the meatballs back to the pan.
4:44
Stir together to coat the meatballs in the sauce and cook for another couple of
4:47
minutes then serve.
4:52
I like to serve my meatballs with creamy ,
4:55
, green veggies and all topped off with a sprinkling of fresh
4:59
and black pepper.
5:08
And there you go that's how to make Swedish meatballs with a rich and creamy
5:12
sauce, a real hit with the family. Don't forget
